Full name UV‑DTF Cold‑Transfer Crystal Label Process, is one of the mainstream high‑end digital printing technologies for advertising, cultural & creative products, packaging and logo decoration. Different from traditional screen printing, hot stamping, adhesive stickers and heat transfer, it is a fully‑automatic digital cold‑transfer technology requiring no heating, no plate‑making and no water soaking. Finished pieces feature raised 3D crystal texture with high transparency and gloss, hence the common name “Crystal Label”.

1. Process Principle & Complete Workflow

UV crystal labels are produced with special double‑layer A‑B transfer films: Film A is the release liner; Film B is the positioning transfer cover film. Production is accomplished by a UV digital printer paired with an LED UV curing system.

Complete production steps:

  1. File Preparation: Perform color separation, stroke outlining and white‑ink channel processing for artwork to adapt to UV printing. Complex gradients, shadows, small texts and fine lines are supported.
  2. Base White Ink Printing: Print a solid layer of white UV ink onto Film A release liner. It improves coverage and color saturation, preventing show‑through when applied onto dark‑colored substrates.
  3. Color Image Printing: Overprint color inks to reproduce images, logos, texts and gradients with vivid, fine color performance.
  4. Top Varnish Build‑up: Apply thick high‑gloss UV varnish over the whole graphic area. The stacked ink layer cures into transparent raised crystal texture with smooth rounded edges and natural 3D embossed effect.
  5. Instant UV Curing: Each ink layer is cured immediately by LED UV lamps upon jetting. No air‑drying or waiting time, no color bleeding, delivering high graphic precision.
  6. Lamination with Transfer Film: After printing & curing, laminate Film B positioning transfer film and press for full adhesion. Complete crystal‑label sheets are ready for sheet‑cutting and waste stripping.

2. Transfer Application Procedure (Simple & User‑Friendly)

No special equipment, high temperature or heat iron is required for finished crystal labels.

  1. Peel off bottom Film A (release liner).
  2. Align graphic‑carrying Film B onto target surface and lay flat.
  3. Press and smooth out to eliminate air bubbles.
  4. Slowly peel off top Film B positioning film. The graphic remains fully adhered on the workpiece.

After transfer, graphics bond firmly to substrates. The surface forms a smooth high‑gloss resin crystal layer with waterproof and wear‑resistant premium finish.

3. Core Process Advantages

  1. Distinct 3D Crystal Texture: Cured thick top varnish creates subtle raised embossed appearance, transparent and glossy, comparable to epoxy resin doming, more premium than ordinary stickers.
  2. Broad Substrate Compatibility: Works on nearly all flat or mildly curved surfaces: glass, ceramic, metal, stainless steel, acrylic, plastics, PVC, leather, wood, gift boxes, painted surfaces and more.
  3. Excellent Conformability on Curved & Irregular Surfaces: Fits vacuum flasks, wine bottles, cylindrical goods and complex curved profiles without wrinkling, edge‑lifting or cracking.
  4. High‑Definition Fine Print Quality: Supports micro‑text, fine lines, gradients, shadows and high‑resolution images. Free of halftone dots and blurred edges; outperforms screen printing and conventional heat transfer in resolution.
  5. Superior Weather & Wear Resistance: Finished labels are waterproof, scratch‑resistant, alcohol‑wipable and fade‑resistant. Tolerates daily abrasion, washing and short‑term outdoor exposure.
  6. No Plate‑making, Flexible Order Volume: Zero plate cost. Available for one‑off pieces, small‑batch customization and mass production. Easy artwork revision, ideal for personalized items, creative gifts and niche brand upgrading.
  7. Cold Transfer, Substrate‑Friendly: Full‑room‑temperature operation; no high‑temperature baking or hot pressing. Avoids damage to heat‑sensitive substrates such as painted finishes, plastics and leather.

4. Typical Application Scenarios

Widely adopted for custom product logos, brand markings, creative decorations and packaging enhancement: beverage bottle labels, vacuum tumblers, cosmetic containers, gift packaging, electronic housings, hardware kitchenware, glassware, acrylic ornaments, advertising signs, wedding favors, DIY handicrafts and corporate promotional gifts across multiple industries.

5. Process Summary

UV‑DTF crystal label is an innovative premium transfer technology integrating high‑definition output, 3D texture, universal substrate adaptability, easy application, scratch durability and plate‑free production. It serves as an ideal replacement for conventional stickers, screen printing, epoxy doming and heat transfer, and stands as a preferred solution for product appearance upgrading and refined brand customization.
